A paid duty officer is an off-duty police officer performing policing duties for an individual or organization other than York Regional Police. Paid duty officers are assigned by the police service, and may be arranged to serve a variety of functions such as traffic direction or security, at a variety of different functions, including weddings, banquets and other special events
Please note, a four hour minimum charge applies for all officers and
vehicles required for a paid duty. Shifts exceeding seven hours in length may
be divided into shifts at the discretion of York Regional Police.
A 24 per cent Administration Fee will be charged, in addition to HST.
When more than three officers are required, a Sergeant will be assigned.

COVID-19 Implications on Special Events
Provincial limitations include
restrictions on social circles, indoor gatherings, outdoor gatherings and
specified capacity for religious services, rites or ceremonies, wedding
ceremonies or funeral services. The current list of restrictions can be found

restrictions, please be advised that paid duty requests for special events are
unlikely to be approved until the conclusion of the COVID-19 emergency.
